Description

Connoisseur Collection – Handmade Card Table Cloths

The Connoisseur Collection are handmade green baize card table cloths. Baize is traditionally used as a card play surface because of the optimum friction and give it provides, with green being the traditional colour. Simon uses the top-quality British baize, 95% merino wool, and every cloth is skilfully hand made to order in our countryside workshop just outside of Devizes.

Cloth size approximately 36 inches / 92cm square. The baize is 95% merino wool and 5% nylon.

Measuring Your Table for Your New Bespoke Tablecloth

Ordering your made-to-measure tablecloth is very easy:

  1. Choose the colour of cloth you would like
  2. Choose the edging you would like
  3. Measure the width of your table top in centimetres and add on the size of drop you require. e.g. 75cm width + 10cm drop x 2 = 95cm total width
  4. Select the width band for your cloth from the second drop down and enter the total width into the first box that appears.
  5. Measure the length of your table top in centimetres and add on the size of drop you require using the same method for the width and type the number into the second text box. The length is the longest side of a rectangle. If your table is square, type the same number into both text boxes.
  6. When you’re happy with your choice and you’ve double-checked the measurements are correct, add the cloth to your basket and complete the order.

Baize, Not Felt

The fabric we use for all our baize cloths is top-quality British-made baize which is 95% merino wool and 5% nylon.

There is a lot of confusion about the difference between baize and felt. This isn’t surprising when you search online and find many suppliers describing felt as baize, or a fabric as ‘baize felt’ or ‘felt baize’. It’s important to know whether you’re buying baize or felt, because the two fabrics are very different. To read more about the differences be sure to check out our article Baize or Felt?
